Two Strand Twist

How to Do a Retwist on Dreadlocks

1.

Start with clean, damp hair

Wash and lightly towel-dry the locs. Hair should be damp but not dripping.

2.

Section the hair

Use clips to separate the locs so you can work one at a time.

3.

Apply locking gel or cream

Add a small amount of product to the new growth at the root.

4.

Twist the new growth

Using your fingers or a comb, twist the new growth clockwise (or in the same direction the locs were started).

5.

Palm roll the loc

After twisting, place the full loc between your palms and roll it back and forth. You can also use two fingers to help twist and shape the loc, especially for smaller ones. Palm rolling in both directions helps mold the loc and gives it that defined “dreaded” look.

6.

Clip the loc in place

Use a metal clip to hold the loc at the root. For smaller locs, you can clip two locs together.

7.

Dry completely

Sit under a hooded dryer or let air dry fully before removing the clips.
